FAQ’s
Are the psychiatric providers going to be employed or contracted by the schools?
-No. The students would be seen as outpatients, and parents would be responsible for making the appointments.
How will the school collaboration occur?
-Every student would need a signed release from the parents in order for the provider to be in contact with school, so information can exchange freely in both directions. If needed, schools can arrange for the providers to participate in treatment meetings.
Will my insurance cover the treatment?
-Our practice is not in network with any insurance, and therefore we are considered ‘out of network’ providers. We can provide you a bill for the services, which can be submitted to the insurance for reimbursement. The reimbursement depends on your specific plan.
What do I need to do as a parent to setup services for my child?
– Please visit our website www.ctpsychiatrists.com to setup an appointment, after consultation with the school. If your child is doing well on current medications, we would require records from the current out of state provider and all the necessary intake forms filled prior to the appointment. We would also require a legal guardian to be available for the appointments, as we require their permission for starting or changing medications. Since we are a telepsychiatry practice, you can connect virtually.
Are you able to provide crisis management for the students?
-Due to the structure of our practice, we are unable to provide crisis interventions, and the school needs to follow their existing crisis management policies, but we will try our best to follow up with the student, parents, and school staff, as soon as crisis has been stabilized. Our practice would collaborate with the school to setup these policies, if needed.
